Greetings loves! Been working on my other blog,
Struck By Sunshine, that i managed to forget about this one yet again. 2 months ago, i had a short getaway to Gold Coast. Work got a little too much to handle so when i spotted Jetstar's sales, i just jumped at the opportunity for a quick getaway from it all. My friend said i could crash at his place which made the offer even more tempting. So i took the early morning flight out - excited and ready to explore a new city.
Since it was still really early, the only option (other than fast food) was to eat at this cafe near their uni. Food was good, but kinda slow though. Apparently it is run by students and their chef changes every now and then so your regular orders tastes and are presented differently. Thought it was a little pricey though hmmn.
What i totally did not expect was that Gold Coast was scorching hot! It was about 8 degrees when i left Sydney and i packed warm clothes but i was not expecting the heat! Lol i think i looked like a fool all bundled up in double layers and jeans while everyone else was in shorts and flip flops. We basically just cruised around, stopping at Surfers Paradise and some other spots for the occasional pictures.
My tour guide - spends about 80% of each day on the phone -.-
.. see what i mean!
The next day, we drove up to Brisbane. It was raining and really gloomy that day. Walked around the city and i got a little too excited when i spotted Park Tae Hwan (or a lookalike. too close to tell). My brother told me i should have stopped him but i didn't remember his name to be honest hahaha :P All i knew was that he was a Korean Olympic swimmer and i had to google search his name and by that time he was long gone.
Thought there was something weird about this shrine. There's like kamasutra carvings all over it (spot this one!) and the ironic thing was, it says 'Association to Protect Asian Culture' HAHAHAHA!
Brisbane's man-made beach/pool.
We ended up at the Queensland University of Technology somehow and it just so happened to be their Open Day. Felt like a student all over again among the crowd. Ah how i miss uni times. Since we didn't shop, we ended up playing pool and watching a movie and asdfjkl tickets only cost $7.50! I feel so ripped off living in Sydney now because tickets cost $20+ here le sigh. Going to the cinema here is considered a luxury.
This trip wasn't a big hoo-ha cause i came without expecting anything (like someone to fall for me in under 3 days? man i'm good :P), merely wanted an escape. Was a little disappointed with food options though cause aside from eating at the same cafe for 3 days in a row, everything else was chinese :/ I plan to come back but to the islands, Lady Elliott or Hamilton, for snorkelling and such. Making sure i have an underwater case or camera that time. Ah the travel list goes on.
Anyway, if you haven't checked out my site yet, please do so
here. Will be more active there from now onwards, probably even posting content that i would normally post here. Maintaining two blogs definitely takes effort.
Off to continue my little project. So excited to reveal it soon! Have a good weekend loves! x
